Watergate II

The Watergate Complex in Washington, is an impressive set of rounded towers that house the district's elite residences and offices. When you travel from building to building, you can notice that the structures were built in different years and have slight stylistic variations. But they follow the same theme.

So today, when we hear President Bush of the US avoiding specific questions about his lying staffmember, we see a different style from Nixon, but essentially the same theme. The Whitehouse, cought in a dangerous lie, is scrambling for a way to get out of it. And unfortunately, the truth may be too compelling to fool the American public any longer.

It has become clear that Karl Rove outed the undercover agent, Valerie Plame, to get back at her husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson. Wilson was one of the first to credibly report that the Whitehouse was "fixing" intelligence to suit it's own whoremongering desires. This tit for tat behavior may have been "business as usual" for the Bush Junta. But this time, it may be the prank that won't go away. The dirty tricks of the president's "architect" have come back to roost-- . It turns out the reports were true, the Whitehouse was fixing intelligence to build a case for invading Iraq (as confirmed again by the Downing Street Memo). And Rove's outing of the spy was not just a vengeful deed, it was also illegal and textbook treason. (War time treason normally caries very stiff penalties.)

Did Rove act with the President's consent or knowledge? Mmmmm...
